Last week sermon

08/28/2022 Pastor Godfrey Owori Topic: Get your own oil

The kingdom of heaven is likened to the parable of ten virgins: Mathew 25:1-13. 25 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

Living for Christ requires boldness

Do you consider yourself to be bold?

Many people have different views on this quality. It can be seen as a good thing to be bold and stand up for what you believe in, but boldness is also often equated with being pushy or over-assertive.

So, what role does boldness play in the Christian life?

If you are naturally shy, you may have a hard time being bold. You may fear that if you are bold, you will come across as arrogant. However, it is important to realize that boldness has negative effects when we use it selfishly to get what we want. As Christians, though, we will face circumstances that require us to be bold in order to stand for Christ.

Living in the last days as Christians

Jesus Christ spoke about the Kingdom of God, which will bring an end to wickedness and make the earth a paradise. (Luke 4:43) People wanted to know when the Kingdom would come. In fact, Jesus’ disciples asked him: “What will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?” (Matthew 24:3) In reply Jesus told them that only Jehovah God knew exactly when the end of this system of things would come. (Matthew 24:36)  But Jesus did foretell things that would take place on earth just before the Kingdom would bring true peace and security to mankind. What he foretold is now taking place!

Understanding the Bible requires dedication

Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
